Robert Downey Jr as Kirk Lazarus in Tropic Thunder is by far the most controversial of all celebrity transformations. Had Downey Jr been cast to play a legitimate role as a black man the reviews and reception for this film may have been quite different. The movie also featured a completely transformed Tom Cruise who is seen in a fat suit with fake hands and a bald cap!
